The word "philosophy" is derived from the Greek words and wordfragments: Philia/ phile /philo—love of, affinity for, liking of Sophia/ sophos / sophist wisdom And this means love of wisdom. Philosophy is the systematic inquiry into the principles and presuppositions of any field of study. Branches of Philosophy The main branches of philosophy are divided as to the nature of the questions asked in each area.
